Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ on This Topic

What is an FIBC liner and why is it used?

An FIBC liner is a plastic film lining placed inside the big bag. It protects the product from moisture, oxygen and contamination. It is recommended for food, pharmaceutical and chemical products that are sensitive to moisture or aroma loss or are very fine powders.

What is the difference between LDPE and HDPE liners?

LDPE (low-density polyethylene) is more flexible and transparent and provides a basic moisture barrier. HDPE (high-density polyethylene) is more rigid and resistant to chemicals; it offers a better moisture barrier but is less flexible.

When should an EVOH liner be chosen?

An EVOH (ethylene vinyl alcohol) liner is chosen when a high oxygen and aroma barrier is required. It is suitable for coffee, spices, food additives and sensitive pharmaceutical ingredients, and is used in multi-layer structures together with PA or PE.

What is an aluminium liner used for?

An aluminium foil laminate liner provides the highest barrier: protection against moisture, oxygen and light. It is preferred for milk powder, food additives and moisture-sensitive pharmaceutical ingredients.

How is liner thickness determined?

Liner thickness is determined by product weight, storage time and the barrier required. Karaca Ambalaj manufactures liners in the range of 50 - 200 micron.
